Revisiting History

War Memorial

This is Cleveland’s War Memorial Fountain, also known as the “Fountain of Eternal Life.” It is dedicated to the memory of those who served in World War II.

Designed by sculptor Marshall Fredericks and dedicated in 1964, the monument was restored and rededicated on Veterans Day in 1991.

The rim of the fountain features bronze plates bearing the names of 4,000 Cleveland area soldiers who died serving their country in WWII and the Korean War.
